The Gate to Woman Country has made me a little alergic to feminist future dystopians. LOL

Evan Mundy clued me in to another one. Darren O'Donnell's Your Secret Sleeps with You

http://www.amazon.ca/Your-Secrets-Sleep-With-Me/dp/1552451380

And apparently Moria Young who wrote Blood Red Road is Canadian although she now lives in the U.S. I started that one but never finished it. It has a reputation as a slow starter though.russell1200https://www.blogger.com/profile/16258915475311426433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2216751897705338056.post-68833964207258730012012-06-23T04:13:12.809-04:002012-06-23T04:13:12.809-04:00awesome Russell buddy! if you do an Atwood - do &q...awesome Russell buddy! if you do an Atwood - do "the Handmaid's Tale" - that will be right up your alley!

from wikipedia:

The Handmaid's Tale is a dystopian novel, a work of science fiction or speculative fiction,[1] written by Canadian author Margaret Atwood[2][3] and first published by McClelland and Stewart in 1985. Set in the near future, in a totalitarian theocracy which has overthrown the United States government, The Handmaid's Tale explores themes of women in subjugation and the various means by which they gain agency. The novel's title was inspired by Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, which is a series of connected stories ("The Merchant's Tale", "The Parson's Tale", etc.).[4]

it's a really good read!kymberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02607117635648274823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2216751897705338056.post-42925536997518330882012-06-22T23:11:44.669-04:002012-06-22T23:11:44.669-04:00K: Update - Evan Monday has a graphic novel Quarte...K: Update - Evan Monday has a graphic novel Quarter-Life Crises that is set in Toronto. I just heard back from and it is still available from his website, so I have at least one novel in Canada by a Canadian for sure - with pictures!russell1200https://www.blogger.com/profile/16258915475311426433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2216751897705338056.post-9610463522610169842012-06-22T23:00:38.706-04:002012-06-22T23:00:38.706-04:00You know there interesting Nova Scotia novel by Sc...You know there interesting Nova Scotia novel by Scott Fotheringham
called The Rest is Silence that is at least partially set in Nova Scotia. The man character falls in love with some native woman- but there is no mention if she is wearing a bunny suit. :) Unfortunately it is not available in the U.S. yet at anything less than an insane price (with shipping Hard Back is $60- and I cannot find a kindle compatable e-version).

It is actually hard to find novels by authors (other than the British) from other countries- particularly non-English language. There is no single search word phrase that captures the types of apocalyose I am most interested in, and even then you pretty much have to do it a country at a time.

I have already read novels authored by Chinese, French, Italian, and a couple of Australians writers.

Maybe I will do a Margeret Atwood (O & C) to be sure I have a Canadian. I have Russians, Rumanians, and New Zealanders (probably others) on hand.russell1200https://www.blogger.com/profile/16258915475311426433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2216751897705338056.post-72865711586283817322012-06-22T18:45:24.383-04:002012-06-22T18:45:24.383-04:00oh! i am super excited that you are delving into f...oh! i am super excited that you are delving into foreign novels - woohoo Russell - woohoo!

your friend (who reads ever single post - i just never know what to say!),

kymberkymberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02607117635648274823noreply@blogger.com
